What is a guard patrol system, and how does Worxit run one?
A guard patrol system proves that guards visited each checkpoint on time. With Worxit, Zamatrack's patrol platform, you mount an NFC patrol tag at each checkpoint, and guards tap it with an NFC-enabled Android phone or a P100s rugged tablet running the Worxit app. Each scan is logged with the time and GPS position. Supervisors schedule patrols per shift and site, and the dashboard flags missed, failed or incomplete patrols during the shift, not when a wand is downloaded the next morning. Guards attach photos, video and voice notes to incidents, and they keep scanning without signal: Worxit syncs when the device reconnects. For basic rounds, the T700L and T710A push-to-talk radios have their own patrol mode. NFC patrol tags cost R30 each, the Worxit dashboard licence is R600 per month, and each phone or tablet running the app needs a R350 monthly device licence, all ex VAT.

Compared
How does Worxit compare with paper sheets and offline wands?
Worxit usually replaces one of two methods: a signed patrol sheet, or an offline wand that is downloaded after the shift.
| Feature | Paper patrol sheet | Offline wand or baton | Worxit with NFC tags |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proof the guard was there | Paper patrol sheetA signature, which can be filled in after the fact | Offline wand or batonThe tag ID and time, stored on the wand | Worxit with NFC tagsAn NFC tag scan with the time and GPS position |
| When a missed round shows | Paper patrol sheetWhen someone checks the sheet | Offline wand or batonAfter the download, often at shift change | Worxit with NFC tagsDuring the shift, as a dashboard alert |
| Photos, video and voice notes | Paper patrol sheetNo | Offline wand or batonNo | Worxit with NFC tagsYes, attached to the incident |
| Without mobile signal | Paper patrol sheetNot affected | Offline wand or batonStores scans on the wand | Worxit with NFC tagsKeeps scanning and syncs when back online |
| Reports | Paper patrol sheetTyped up by hand | Offline wand or batonDownloaded from each wand | Worxit with NFC tagsExports with patrol counts per shift and graphs |
| Main drawback | Paper patrol sheetEasy to complete without walking the route | Offline wand or batonMissed rounds only show after the download | Worxit with NFC tagsPhones need charging and care |

What do buyers ask about guard patrol software?
Common questions from teams evaluating guard patrol solutions.
What is a guard patrol system?
A guard patrol system uses NFC tags, GPS, or QR codes to verify that security guards complete scheduled checkpoints in real time, replacing manual paper-based patrol sheets. Zamatrack's guard patrol system for South Africa gives supervisors instant visibility into missed, failed, or incomplete patrols.
How does NFC patrol tracking work?
Guards tap their mobile device against NFC patrol tags mounted at checkpoints. Each scan is time-stamped and verified, creating an audit-ready record proving the checkpoint was physically visited at the scheduled time.
Can guard patrol reports be used for compliance and client audits?
Yes. Every patrol, exception, and incident is logged with photos, timestamps, and location data, giving you exportable reports suitable for client audits, SLA reporting, and compliance checks.
Does the patrol system work without internet connectivity on-site?
Yes, guards can continue scanning checkpoints and submitting reports offline; data syncs automatically to the dashboard once a connection is available.
