What Is a Work Order Management System? A Guide for South African Facilities Teams

Why "we've always done it this way" stops working

  • Parts and materials logged on the job: No more guessing what was used after the fact

5. What to check before switching from spreadsheets

  • Can technicians use it properly on a phone, in the field, without a laptop?
  • Does it support multi-level approvals if a job needs sign-off before closing?
  • Can you export completion rates and time-to-completion metrics, not just a job list?

A work order management system earns its place by making three things visible that spreadsheets and WhatsApp threads can't: exactly what stage every job is in, proof that the work was actually done, and where your technicians' time is really going.
